Doing Business in Southeast Asia and India
Southeast Asia and ASEAN (Association of South East Asian Nations) is an enormous EU-style trading bloc - or at least presents itself that way - and has become another segment of the "Asian Tigers" economic growth model. While the 1997-1998 Asian Financial Crisis may have briefly slowed GDP upward movement for awhile, the region has proven formidable in its new global strategic mindset, educational systems, and also has a tremendous historical background with which to drive future thinking, both in the Asia-Pacific region and around the world.
India, or as some pundits and authors refer to it, Chindia, combines abundant resources with a quasi-Western democracy and educational training making it an information - and now hard-goods industrial - juggernaut. The political landscape is extremely diverse in this region, as are the old cultures, revered traditions, and business practices.
As a whole, the region anchors the southern half of the Asian hemisphere with vibrant thinking, geo-political uncertainties, and world-class citizens.
