Mechanical Drives & Rotating Equipment
This seminar provides instruction that is both equipment specific as well as studying common components that are generally designed into many different pieces of equipment, with the idea that understanding the engineering and component basics will translate into capabilities to troubleshoot practically any piece of equipment, regardless of how it functions, its design, or the many manufacturers of this more specific hardware.
The course includes a primer in elementary mechanical applications, FMEA (Failure Modes Effects Analysis), normal life expectancies for particular kinds of equipment, and their required maintenance. We shall examine bearings, couplings, shafts, chains, gears, sprockets, bushings, v-belts, sheaves, lubrication techniques, motion dynamics.
